An Exceptional Garden Centre

It all started here over 40 years ago.  Our Waikanae Store is located just north of the township in the countryside of Peka Peka, with “The Café at Harrisons” a popular foodie destination. Harrisons Waikanae is the perfect place to drop in and satisfy all your gardening needs and gain inspiration.

You will find everything you need for the modern garden including garden décor, pots and water features. Our friendly staff are on hand to provide expert advice and help select the right plant for you.

Our 4 acre production nursery works alongside the Garden Centre.  We are famous for our quality trees and shrubs, especially NZ Natives with a regular delivery service covering the wider Wellington Region, (through to the Manawatu).  Perfect for those heavy, smelly or bulky purchases.

Our Waikanae branch has twice taken out the Garden Centre of the Year award for the central region. That's something that The Team are proud of and we strive to keep our standards high. That means providing you with exceptional service, quality plants and fresh displays to exercise your imagination!

We offer a delivery service for all those heavy, large or smelly items anywhere in the greater Wellington region ( from Wellington to Feilding) for a small fee - please enquire if you require this service.

We look forward to seeing you soon and helping grow your garden!

We really do love what we do and I hope that shows through in the service and selection you find at Harrisons. I am proud of our nursery and garden centres and the positive contribution they make to everyone who supplies, works or shops with us.

I grew up as the son of market gardeners in Otaki, completed a Bachelor of Horticulture at Massey University, ran my own Landscape Design and construction company, then spent five years with an Auckland horticultural supplies business calling on garden centres and nurseries throughout NZ before finally joining the family nursery back in 1993.

I have been a President of Nursery and Garden Industry and have a keen interest in all activities that may increase the appeal of gardening to individuals or their communities.

I am pleased that Harrisons is independent and locally owned. Our stores can respond with the knowledge, products and plants to ensure that your efforts are rewarded. We want your gardening to be successful, and are thrilled when we can help that happen!
